Exam Professor

Exam Professor moves to the cloud (grid computing)

Exam Professor has finished our migration to an elastic grid computing environment, and we hope you notice an improvement in speed, reliability, and performance. Grid computing (or the use of a computational grid) is applying the resources of many computers in a network to a single problem at the same time - in this instance, our exam management engine which requires a great number of computer processing cycles and access to large amounts of data.

One key advantage to moving to an elastic grid is the ability to reconfigure needed resources on the fly without scheduled downtime. For instance, Exam Professor was able to add additional processing cores when an internal alarm signalled 82% of processing maximum. Because the grid is elastic additional processors, server memory, and hard-drive space is available with minimal reconfiguration (a couple clicks and a restart is all that is required).

Of course, additional services from our host requires money so we are doing our best to maximize our investment. We are curious to hear your experience using Exam Professor on the new grid, and believe we are in a much better environment as we continue to grow.
