Welcome to Exam Professor v2.0
Version 1.0 of Exam Professor was released March 5th, 2006 and was soon noticed by Macromedia and awarded "Site of the Day". Since that time we've grown a little here and there and we have learned a great deal in the process.
We have introduced several new features we hope you will welcome.
Additional features
New to the team is Laura Arguello. Laura is one of the founders of Blue Instant, a web development firm specializing in Rich Internet Applications using languages such as ColdFusion, Flash, Flex, ActionScript, and Apollo. Laura has built a new student interface that radically changes the way teachers can distribute exams.
- Exam Professor now provides easy copy/paste code for those wanting to have your exams integrated into your own web site. The data and the admin interface are still on our servers and you'll have to log-in to Exam Professor to manage everything, but the exam looks like you're hosting it.
- The new student interface only loads one question at a time, saving each answer as students progress through an exam. If your browser, Internet connection, or computer quits part way through an exam, no worries - simply restart the quiz and Exam Professor will remember where you were before the trouble started.
- Administrators of an exam can now view assessment data of both registered students and guest users.
- The new exam interface comes in two sizes - full screen and blog size. You have the choice of embedding your own exams into your web pages or you can visit Exam Professor and use ours.
- In addition to embedding individual exams, you can embed the whole student interface that displays all your exams and a dashboard of information for your students.
- The new exam interface allows users to preview at a glance all questions, their answers, and gives colorful, immediate, and easy to understand feedback to the student.
Performance
As Exam Professor has grown performance has become an issue. We have increased performance by migrating to dedicated hardware, increasing the RAM in our servers, upgrading to Adobe Cold Fusion version 8.0, and upsizing our database to MS SQL 2005, all while optimizing our backend code.
All our hard work has been dramitic and we are quite pleased with the result. Using the new Adobe Cold Fusion 8 Server Monitor we are now able to monitor our application's performance and make any necessary adjustments.
Stability
We have reviewed every line of code and implimented an integrated bug tracking system, so we are notified immediately in the event of on error.
Conclusion
